Our Passion
We are passionate about producing 100% pure organic Cachaça. While Abelha Cachaça is designed as a sipping spirit, with smooth texture and a long finish, it is equally well suited to a fresh, full-flavored cocktail.
Our Philosophy
We believe in being 100% sustainable. Our Fazenda (farm) is a 100% sustainable, self-sufficient, clean running farm – all waste is re-used in future farming. The cars and tractors on the farm are powered on the by-products from the distillate. We always look to improve organic technologies and infrastructure where possible.
No sugar is added. There are no impurities, toxins or by-products in our Cachaça – hence the fresh aromas when you open a bottle.
Our Process
- Abelha Cachaça is made with cane, care, and craft. We are committed to the highest standard of production at every step of the process.
- Abelha Cachaça is organically certified in both the ‘growing of the sugar cane’ and the ‘process of distilling’ at international standards. Only natural fertilizer is used, with no pesticides or additives.
- Sugar cane is cut fresh and processed the same day for fermentation. Following fermentation, the Cachaça wine is distilled in traditional 800 litre alambique (copper pot) stills.

- Abelha Prata/Silver, our younger Cachaça, is rested for six months. Abelha Ouro/Gold is aged in Garapeira wood barrels for three years, where it acquires golden colour and rich complexity. Natural aquifers provide the water for dilution to 40% ABV.

- After bottling on the fazenda grounds, our Cachaça hits the road for its long twelve-hour journey from farm to port and beyond, bringing our extraordinary spirit to the rest of the world.
THE QUILOMBO PROJECT
- The Abelha Distillery aims to improve the local farmers’ living standards and the distillery has promoted a collective organization of organic agriculture.
- The Fazenda puts 60% of the production capacity of its stills to the disposal of the partners prepared to adopt the system of organic agriculture.
- Five partners have already received the certificate with several others being trained and supported throughout the process.
- We are one of the only private Brazilian enterprises with a social rural project.
OUR AIMS
Abelha’s goal is to increase the number of organically certified farmers in the vicinity. We also want to ensure that every farmer is producing up to 2,200 litres each year. Whatever the capacity, the distillery will consistently use the organic process. The farmers grow the sugar cane on their land and deliver it to the Fazenda resulting in a constant supply and demand. The Abelha distillery then carries out the production of the Cachaça, including bottling and quality control. The production of Abelha has always and will always focus 100% on the sustainability of the farmers’ lands.
OUR COCKTAILS

RASPBERRY CAIPIRINHA
- 45 ml Abelha Cachaça
- 6 raspberries
- 1/4 a lime, cut into wedges
- 2 tsp superfine sugar or 30 ml simple syrup
Muddle the lime, raspberries and sugar in a shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and add Abelha Cachaça Silver. Shake vigorously. Serve in a rocks glass, and garnish with berries on a cocktail stick

LATIN FASHIONED
- Abelha Cachaça Gold
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 Sugar cube
- Few dashes plain water
Place sugar cube in old fashioned glass (tumbler) and saturate with bitters, add a dash of plain water. Muddle until dissolved. Fill the glass with ice cubes and add whiskey. Garnish with orange slice, and a cocktail cherry and serve on the rocks; poured over ice.

PLANTACAO
- 50ml Abelha Silver Cachaça
- 25ml freshly squeezed lime juice
- 10ml sugar cane syrup
- 1 barspoon Maraschino
Shake all ingredients with ice and fine-strain into a chilled martini/coupette glass. Twist a lime zest over the top and discard. Garnish with a cocktail cherry.

ABELHA SPRITZ
- 50 ml ABELHA Cachaça Silver
- Fever Tree Tonic Water or Elderfower Tonic Water
Fill a highball glass with ice. Add Abelha Cachaça. Top with Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic Water, and stir well. Garnish with a lime wedge

Abelha Cachaça NEGRONI
- 30ml Abelha Cachaça Silver
- 30ml Campari
- 30ml Rosso Vermouth (Sweet)
- Garnish: Orange Peel
Add ingredients all together into a tumbler glass, stir, and add the garnish

KIWI CAIPIRINHA
- 45 ml Abelha Cachaça
- 10 ml pernod
- 1 kiwi, peeled and chopped
- 30 ml apple juice
- 10 ml fresh lime juice
- 10 ml sugar syrup
Muddle the kiwi and sugar in a shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and add the remaining ingredients. Shake vigorously, and strain over crushed ice. Garnish with kiwi slices.

Cachaça DAIQUIRI
- 50ml Abelha Cachaça Silver
- 25ml Lime juice
- 15ml Simple syrup or refined sugar
Pour all ingredients into shaker with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a chilled coupette / martini glass.

AMARGA
- 50 ml ABELHA Cachaça Silver
- Fentimans Bitter Lemonade
Fill a highball glass with ice. Add Abelha Cachaça. Top with fentimans bitter lemonade, and stir well. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

NOVA
- 60 ml Abelha Gold
- 10 ml lemon grass syrup
- 7.5 ml Falernum
- 2 dashes TBT Lemon bitters
Stir all ingredients thoroughly with ice. Strain in to an ice-filled old-fashioned and garnish with a lemon zest twist
